About us

Pen & Pixel is the small design studio managed by Jo Lankester, based in Oxford. We love what we do and work with a whole range of clients, big and small, in the UK and further afield.

Jo Lankester

Coming from a background in typographic and information design, we have been designing and developing websites for a wide range of clients since 2005.

Pen & Pixel design is passionate about usability and believes that all products should be easy to use and understand. We aim to achieve this through thoughtful design, well written and relevant content, and a thorough understanding of both your requirements and the needs of your users.

We believe that great web design should be accessible to everyone, so we deliver thoughtful and creative online solutions at a reasonable cost.

If you would like to work on a project with us, please get in touch, or download our client questionnaire.

Responsive design

We like to think of this as ‘responsible’ design. Technology is progressing at a rate of knots: the mobile age is upon us, and who knows what new device will be developed next. We feel that we have a responsibility to our clients to produce websites which not only function on devices and browsers currently in use, but which will work in the future too.

User experience

In order to produce an effective and usable website, it is essential to develop an understanding of the client’s aims and objectives.

We can help you to achieve the best results, whether it is in assessing the requirements of your users or in undertaking comprehensive user testing to ensure the success of your site. We put great emphasis on keeping your users happy in order to promote the success of your business.

Giving you control

Wherever possible, we recommend using a Content Management System (CMS) to handle the content on your website. From adding a new email address to your contact page, to writing daily posts on a blog, giving you the ability to perform these tasks quickly and easily on your own site is an important part of the development process.

We work with a number of CMS, and will always make an appropriate recommendation based on the requirements of each individual project.
